JCCT presenting dinner theater musical “Xanadu”

Jackson County Community Theatre will present its dinner theater musical “Xanadu” on Feb. 17, 18, 24 and 25 at The Pines Evergreen Room in Seymour .

There also will be a nondinner matinee on Feb. 19.

Based on the Universal Pictures cult classic movie with the same title, which starred the late Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, “Xanadu” is for anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired.

The show follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California, in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time, the first roller disco. But when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds.

Cast members are Skyla Fields, Curtis Nowling, Matt Nieman, Kat Hardwick, Stephanie Strothmann, Mars Rogers, Brinna Sharp, Natalie Whan and Job Willman. Paul Angle is the stage director, and Ron Duncan is the music director. Zach Thompson is the assistant director, Karen Haas is the production manager and Megan Keller is the costumer.

Dinner service begins at 6 p.m. for the Feb. 17 and 18 performances. All tickets are $36. The nondinner matinee will begin at 2:30 p.m. Matinee tickets are $16 for all patrons. An additional $1 fee will be added to tickets purchased by credit card.
