David L. Bloom

SEYMOUR

David L. Bloom, Sr, 72 passed away Friday, December 16, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of Seymour.

He was born June 16, 1950 to Floyd and Virginia Hatfield Bloom. He married Melvina Wilson on September 12, 1970 in Seymour. Survivors include his wife, Melvina Bloom of Seymour; one daughter, Towanna Bloom of Seymour; two sons, David L. (Leeann) Bloom, Jr. of Seymour and Kevin A. (Kayla Whalen) Bloom of Seymour; one sister, Brenda (Bloom) Moore of Seymour; his Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Betty Plummer; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Bloom; and four sisters, Sheila Wilson, Donna Sue Proffit, Jane Harbrueger, and Sherry Benefield.

David was a employed by the City of Seymour for 48 years in various positions including Street Commissioner, retiring in 2016.

He was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church.

David was very family oriented, and was often spending time with grandchildren. He always found ways to help others, and loved keeping a laugh on the faces of all he knew. He enjoyed racing, fishing, hunting, and working on vehicles.

Visitation will be from 10-1PM, Wednesday, December 21, at New Life Assembly of God Church, 800 Brookhaven Dr, Seymour, with a funeral service to follow at 1PM. He will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.
