Shawn W Goens, 58, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on November 9, 2022, at Schneck Medical Center. He was born on July 3, 1964, to Sandra Stroud Goens and the late Charles “Buzz” Goens. Charlene Gray has been his companion and significant other for 22 years.
Shawn was a member of the Kentucky Welders Union and the Humane Society. He loved playing music and guitars. He played in local bands as a lead singer and bass guitar player. He enjoyed BBQs and family gatherings. He designed conveyor belts in local factories, was an underwater cave welder and a welder for many local farmers. He will also be remembered for being a very good artist and songwriter. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and loved his other special companion, his cat, Boo Kitty.
He is survived by his significant other and companion, Charlene Gray; his sons, Geddy Goens, Gavin Goens, and Garth Goens; his mother, Sandra Stroud Goens; his sisters, Beth Knight, and Susie Nivens; two grandchildren, he is also survived by his cousins Eric Goens, Bridgetti (Nick) Corbett, and Scott Lawson.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles “Buzz” Goens; his grandfather, Marshall Goens; and his aunts and uncles.
In keeping with Shawn’s wishes, cremation services are being performed by the caring staff of Voss and Sons Funeral Service. Family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Jackson County and may send flowers to Voss and Sons Funeral Service. Burial will take place at Robertson Cemetery in Honeytown.
