Helen Elizabeth Rotert, age 90, of Freetown, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown.
Mrs. Rotert was a member of Freetown United Methodist Church.
Helen was a hairdresser at The Kut and Kurl in Ewing. She enjoyed teaching Bible School, and she loved cooking for her family, shopping, sewing, and cake decorating.
Born on February 2, 1932, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Bill M. and Ollie M. (Whitaker) Cooper, both of whom preceded her in death. On March 29, 1952, she married Billy E. Rotert, and he preceded her in death on August 7, 2006.
Survivors include two sons: William R. “Randy” (Marjorie) Rotert of Freetown, and Richard L. (Kimberly) Rotert of Freetown; two sisters: Judy (Don) Bonebright of Brownstown and Betty Persinger of Brownstown; three grandchildren: Laura (Dan) Vague of Freetown, Richard (Tiffany) Rotert of Freetown, and Matt (Paige) Rotert of Brownstown; seven great-grandchildren: Grayson Vague, Cooper Vague, Camden Vague, Elizabeth Rotert, Henry Rotert, Paisley Rotert, and Paxton Rotert; sister-in-law, Martha Jo Cooper; and brother-in-law, Sherman Brock.
Mrs. Rotert was also preceded in death by one brother, Billy Ray Cooper; one sister, Shirley Brock; and brother-in-law, Paul Persinger.
Funeral services for Helen Elizabeth Rotert will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Rob Kirts officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the funeral home.
A private family graveside service will be held at Freetown Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be given to Freetown United Methodist Church.
