Seymour Elks county veterans project underway

The public is invited to help Seymour Elks Lodge 462 collect the new items for veterans in Jackson County nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Those include deodorant, facial tissues, haircare products (especially waterless shampoo), toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap (only Dove or Ivory), house slippers, lap blankets (only a few needed), small notebooks, pencils, playing cards (large print, new decks only), pocket games, large white socks and word search puzzle books. Alcohol, razors/sharp objects and nail clippers will not be accepted.

Donations may be dropped off between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at the Seymour Elks Lodge/Brewskies Downtown, 117 E. Second St., Seymour, before Dec. 7.

Cash donations also are accepted, and checks can be made payable to Elks Charity Fund, P.O. Box 1, Seymour, IN 47274 by Dec. 1.

Volunteers are needed for the gift bag stuffing at a time and location to be announced. Drivers and a passenger also are needed to deliver bags to Autumn Trace, Covered Bridge Health Campus, Lutheran Community Home, Seymour Crossing and Seymour Place.
