Seymour teams, three Braves advance to semistate

SHELBYVILLE — The Seymour boys cross-country team placed third and the girls placed fourth for the Owls to both punch their ticket to semistate.

Brownstown Central’s Chance Ratliff, Shane Ratliff and Traven Wellman also all qualified for semistate as individuals.

Columbus North won both the girls and boys races on Saturday at Blue River Memorial Park in Shelbyville. The Austin boys were second, and the Charlestown girls were second, while Austin was third.

Leading the way for the Seymour boys team was Jude Bane, who placed seventh overall with a time of 16:33.8. Carter Murphy was 19th in 17:49.0, Sam Rockey was 28th in 17:59.1, Wes Proffer was 30th in 18:04.9, Kylan Ellerbe 37th in 18:18.5, Ty Tormoehlen 41st in 18:21.4 and Micah Jablonski 55th in 18:38.6.

For the Seymour girls, it was Vivienne Siefker leading the charge with a 14th-place finish in 20:02.9. Gracie Adams was 30th in 21:54.5, AnnMarie Shuler 34th in 22:13.2, Grace Lewis 36th in 22:24.7, Kinsley Folsom 38th in 22:27.2, Lyndsey Greenawalt 39th in 22:30.6 and Kelly Beavers 51st in 23:20.4.

The Brownstown boys were sixth overall, and Shane Ratliff placed 18th in 17:34.6, Chance Ratliff was 23rd in 17:52.3 and Wellman was 26th in 17:58.4. Those three were top 10 finishers for individuals on teams that didn’t qualify, so they will be racing next weekend, as well.

Other finishers for Brownstown were Bradley Edwards in 18:34.5, Garrett Driver in 20:24.2, Evan Sibrel in 21:16.1 and Dylan Wischmeier in 21:19.3.

The Lady Braves were eighth as a team, led by freshman Trinity Cody in 22:36.3. Kelsey Schneider ran a 23:07.4, Cambell Shasteen 23:58.4, Tori Lokey 25:02.7, Maddy Schepman 26:39.8, Madison Stuckwisch 27:25.2 and Claire Schepman 28:05.8.

Crothersville’s Dirk Crater also competed after qualifying for regional as an individual, and he ran a 18:47.3 to conclude another productive season for the sophomore.

The three Braves boys and both Seymour teams will race in the Brown County Semistate at Eagle Park this Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
