In partnership with Crawford, Murphy and Tilly Inc., Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting for a sight distance improvement project on State Road 258 in Jackson County.
The meeting, set for Oct. 18 at Cortland Elementary School, 6687 N. County Road 400E, will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the project, ask questions and provide feedback.
As proposed, the $3.5 million project aims to improve safety by lowering the vertical profile of State Road 258 west of Seymour. Sight distance will be improved near the intersection of County Road 100E with a reduction of the maximum grade from approximately 11.5% to 7.5%, eliminating the current “double dip” at this location. The contract is scheduled to let to contractors next fall with construction to follow.
A full closure of State Road 258 is expected during the project. An official detour will be posted.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow the public time to view displays and interact with the project team. A presentation will begin at 6 p.m. Project information also will be posted on the INDOT Seymour District webpage and can be viewed any time.
Questions and comments may be submitted in person at the information meeting or via email to Dominick Romano ([email protected]) with Crawford, Murphy and Tilly Inc.
