Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction Co. Inc. reopened the State Road 39 bridge over Pond Creek on Friday following a superstructure replacement project in Jackson County.
The bridge is located between State Road 256 and State Road 250.
On Monday, State Road 39 closed just under 2 miles south of State Road 250 to allow crews to complete a box culvert replacement at an unnamed tributary to Pond Creek. The road is expected to reopen in mid-November. The official detour follows State Road 250, U.S. 31 and State Road 256.
The $1.5 million contract also includes work on the bridge over Cammie-Thomas Ditch that reopened in July.
INDOT reminds drivers to use extra caution, avoid distractions and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
