Jerry D. Brown


Jerry D. Brown, 71, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Jerry was born in Columbus, October 11, 1950, the loving son of Jason W. and Mary I. Flinn Brown. On March 31, 1973, Jerry married Dorellen Denman.

Jerry was a Journeyman patternmaker at the Chrysler Foundry retiring after 15 years of service. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, as well as fabricated and machined parts for Indy Car Racing. Jerry was very involved in the CNHS Marching Band; he was a “Pitbull” for the band, and he designed and help build the first semitrailer that hauled the band instruments.

Jerry attended the Community Church of Columbus, and he had a passion for fishing, especially when his family was with him.

Surviving to cherish his memory are Dorellen of Columbus; children, Jason W. (Elizabeth) Brown of Columbus and Hollie Brown of Columbus; grandchildren, Rebekah Brown and Logan Brown of Columbus; sister, Beverly (Rick) Graham of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jason and Mary Brown.

The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2022, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington Street in Columbus; Pastor Matthew Jung will officiate.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Jerry will be laid to rest in the Garden of Faith at the Garland Brook Cemetery.
