CROTHERSVILLE

Iris A. Begley, 88, formerly of Crothersville, IN, passed away at 11:10 PM on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Lakepoint Village in Scottsburg, IN. Iris was born on Wednesday, August 9, 1933, in Bethlehem, IN to Cecil Hooker and Ocie (Beach) Hooker. On May 20, 1950, Iris married her first husband, Charles E. Bannister who preceded her in death on April 28, 1996. On November 18, 1974, she married Robert J. Begley who preceded her in death on June 3, 2003.

Iris was spiritual and of Christian faith. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #1083 in Crothersville. She was a sweet, kind, gentle, loving lady who loved embroidering, fishing, frog legs, listening to country music, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Steve (Michelle) Bannister of Brownstown, IN, Eric (Denise) Bannister of Seymour, IN, Brenda Chandler of North Vernon, IN, Trixie (Tony) Witt of Scottsburg, IN, and Terry (Dale) Lucas of Seymour, IN, 23 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Ocie Hooker, first husband, Charles E. Bannister, second husband, Robert S. Begley, 1 son, Charles R. Bannister, siblings, Vivian Hammer, Joyce Wathen, Ronald Hooker, Carolyn Vest, and 1 grandson, Mark Chandler.

Pastor Mike Schuler will conduct funeral services on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Crothersville, with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service, all at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory Crothersville.
