The Brownstown baseball team gathered in the school cafeteria on Monday night to celebrate its 2022 baseball season.

First-year head coach Duane Higgs started off by thanking the players for buying in to his coaching style and working hard all season long.

Higgs felt it was successful first season at Brownstown as the Braves went 15-13 overall, losing in sectionals to Silver Creek. Brownstown was 6-2 in the Mid-Southern Conference and were competing for a conference title toward the end of the regular season.

Higgs and the coaching staff handed out participants letters for junior varsity and varsity. Earning JV letters were Jeffrey Barker, Austin Perry, Karson Rollins, Easton Branaman, Colsen Ellison, Andrew Roberts, Evan Schneider and Lane Steward.

The JV team went 5-2 this past spring. The JV most improved award went to Schneider.

For varsity, letter winners were Ethan Davis, Jake Pauley, Levi Stahl, Wyatt Steward, Carson Darlage, Ethan Fultz, Deven Cummings, Ethan Garland, Trent Lowery, Quentin Tiemeyer, Grant Killey, Dalton Reedy and Pierson Wheeler.

Cummings, Lowery, Tiemeyer and Reedy were all first-time letter recipients.

The mental attitude award was given to Barker.

The leading pitcher award went to Davis while the leading hitter award went to Garland.

The team MVP was Pauley. Higgs said he always feels like the leader on the field should be the catcher. He coaches his catchers hard, and Pauley was everything Higgs hoped he would be behind the plate.

Pauley and Davis both earned MSC all-conference while Garland and Darlage were MSC all-conference honorable mention. Pauley was also an all-district player.

The four seniors for the Braves were Davis, Pauley, Stahl and Steward.

Pauley is going to continue his baseball career at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Davis is going to play at Marian University in Indianapolis.
