Walter Anthony Gardner, age 78, a native of Batavia, Ohio and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Our Hospice in Columbus, Indiana. He was born on May 10, 1944 to the late George Anthony Gardner and the late Ruth (Thompson) Gardner. He was a Christian by Faith. Walter along with his beloved wife “Dottie” owned and operated the “Airport Cafe” near Freeman Field for over ten years in Seymour, Indiana. Everyone loved Walter, and he loved them. He will forever be remembered as a great guy that never met a stranger, He like to “tinker” with anything electric knowing he had the skills to make it better. He loved fishing and playing cards with his friends at the Lions Club.

He is survived by his two sons, George Anthony Gardner of Plainfield, Indiana and Michael Alan Gardner of Plainfield, Indiana. Two step sons, Dace Armstrong and his wife Julie of Vallonia, Indiana and A. J. Warner and his ex-wife Carla of Seymour, Indiana. Two daughters, Deborah Tormey of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sara Kerens and her husband Tim of Plainfield, Indiana and one step daughter, Angle Whitaker and her husband Jesse of Cincinnati, Ohio, One Brother, David Gardner and his wife Pamela Jean of Batavia, Ohio, six sisters, Jessica Short of Williamsburg, Ohio, Gail Baer of Cincinnati, Ohio, Georgia Ann Thomas and her husband Gary of Lebanon, Tennessee, Pamela Jean Balke and her husband Harry of Fort Myers, Florida, Jennifer Ethel Kaetzel of Amelia, Ohio and Marsha Lee Ballard and her husband Dave of Cincinnati, Ohio. Eleven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of over 33 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Gardner, two brothers, Willie Gardner and Marvin Gardner, two sisters, Judith Mary Parsons and Elizabeth Ann Blair.

The family received friends on Thursday, March 26 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM with Funeral Services beginning at 6:00 PM with Pastor Jim Hudson officiating at Christensen Family Funeral Home.
