Doris Bode Hackman, age 96 of Seymour, passed away at the Covered Bridge Health Campus on May 17, 2022. She was born May 14, 1926 in Jackson County, Indiana to August and Anna Barkman Bode. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1926. She graduated from Cortland High School in 1944. She married Roland Hackman on November 21, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed their 50 years together before he preceded her in death on October 31, 2005. She worked at Jackson County Farm Bureau and Farmer’s Production Credit of Seymour and served as the treasurer of Sauers Mutual Insurance Company, until retiring at the age of 90, but most of her life was dedicated to managing the business affairs of the family farm. She enjoyed being a homemaker, a very skilled seamstress, and tending to the animals on the farm, which was homesteaded after being in the family for over 100 years. She and her husband, Roland “Blondie” were very involved in the community, Future Farmers of America (Jackson County Chapter) and with the Jackson County Fair. She spent her life serving as a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, being involved with the Lutheran Laymans League among many other groups within the church. In short, the church and the farm were her life
