Sibling class prepares young children for new baby in family

The arrival of a new baby is a life-changing event not only for parents but also for siblings.

Young family members may find this time to be stressful and difficult, but preparation can help minimize their uncertainties.

The sibling class at Schneck Medical Center helps young children better understand what to expect when a brother or sister joins the family. This class is designed for children ages 3 through 9 to attend with their parents and prepares them for the transition ahead.

Children learn how to help Mom and Dad, take a tour of the maternity floor, learn to diaper and swaddle the baby and more.

The next sibling class will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 12 in the Schneck Professional Building, Level 3. Those planning to attend should park on Level 3 of the parking garage and enter the building.

Future dates are Sept. 13 and Nov. 8.

Register online at schneckmed.org. The class is limited to 10 children along with their parents.
