Richard Dean Crider, age 69. a native of Columbus, Indiana and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed from this life on Friday, May 13, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on October 22, 1952 to the late Donald Crider and the late Pauline (Vickery) Crider.

He was Christian by faith. Richard retired from the United States Marie Corps after over 22 years of honorable service in the United States Marine Corps with training and practical experience in the areas of logistics, corrections, security and engineering. His military experience included Combat Engineer, Correctional Specialist, Combat Service Support Chief and Combat Cargo Assistant/Ships Self-Defense Officer.

Richard was a qualified expert marksman with M-14, M16A2 service rifle, M-1911A1 .45 caliber and 9mm Peribellum automatic service pistols. His awards included Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (with 2 stars), Good Conduct Medal (with 6 stars), National Defense Service Medal (with 1 star), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (with 2 stars), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Southwest Asia Service Medal (with 4 stars), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Rifle Expert Badge (8th award) and Pistol Expert Award (5th award). His military service was also evident in his civilian life as a very calm man, yet stern and direct. He enjoyed spading time at the gun range and especially time on the water as he love boating.

He is survived by his wife of over 21 years, Ann Marie (Lentini) Crider of Seymour, Indiana, two daughters, Amy Marie Baker and her husband Doug Jr. of Seymour, Indiana and Kristine Fletcher and her significant other, Kevin Wininger of Seymour, Indiana. One brother, Dennis Crider and his wife Dora of Columbus, Indiana and one sister, Shirley Crider of Westport, Indiana. Two grandchildren, Bailey Baker and Marissa Baker, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Harold Crider.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home with a Sunset Celebration of life service to begin at 7:00 PM with Pastor Jim Hudson officiating. Full military honors will take place following services. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
