Jane Elizabeth Pilman Tormoehlen, age 83, of Seymour, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Tormoehlen was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Seymour.

Jane was a homemaker, and she had the privilege of staying home and raising her children until they were grown and on their own in life. She and her husband, Richard, owned B &T Sales and Service, now known as Brownstown Equipment. Jane loved spending time with her family, and she also loved traveling with Richard throughout the United States and other countries and going on Allis Chalmers business trips with him. Jane also enjoyed reading and working in her yard.

Born on January 22, 1939, at her home on Shale Hill, in Jackson County, Jane was the daughter of William Earl and Fay Artis Pilman, both of whom preceded her in death. On January 18, 1959, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, she married Richard “Dick” Tormoehlen and he survives in Seymour.

Survivors also include one son, Gregory D. (Susan) Tormoehlen of Seymour; three daughters: Debra Goodman (friend Don Caudill) of Brownstown, Lisa (James) Baker of North Carolina, and Karen (Daryl) Pogue of Georgia; three sisters: Carol (Robert) Pope of Brownstown, Janet (Robert) Brown of Columbus, and Joy Dawson of Bardstown, Kentucky; eight grandchildren: Ryan Goodman of North Carolina, Scott Tormoehlen (fianc? Amanda Delph), Nathan (Christy) Tormoehlen, Erica (Kevin Bell) Tormoehlen, Stephanie (Josh) Cauthren, Melissa Baker, Alisha (Justin) Nichols, and Derrick Pogue; thirteen great-grandchildren: Emalee Goss, Tyler Tormoehlen, Eleanor McKinney, Owen Tormoehlen, Blade McKinney, Ty Bell, Connor Nichols, Elizabeth Nichols, Abigail Nichols, Charlotte Nichols, Alexander Pogue, Oliver Pogue, and Oaklynn Cauthren expected in May; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Jane was also preceded in death by two sisters: Doris Owens and Wilma Morgan.

Funeral services for Jane Elizabeth Pilman Tormoehlen will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Andrew Currao and Pastor Ed Kenneith officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday, April 12, 2021, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown.

Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, Seymour, Trinity Lutheran High School, or Schneck Hospice.
