Thomas Eugene Goodman, 75, Medora, entered heaven’s gate on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at his home. Mr. Goodman was born September 14, 1946, the son of Carl and Betty Toomey Goodman in Martinsville, IN, and was raised by his foster mother, Mrs. Suddith, along with her brother Pops and sister Bobo.

Tom was a graduate of Martinsville High School and served in the Air Force from 1968-1971 and was a lineman for MA Bell, which is now AT&T, for several years and was a member of American Legion 0364 in Carrier Mills, IL. While installing phone service at Indianapolis School of Nursing he met Edith Baughman who later became his wife. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2000.

He loved huntin, fishin, woodworkin and birdwatchin. Tom was a very organized man and demanded all tools were to be in their proper place after each use. He was an avid softball player and was a member of the Indiana Bell Astros ball team.

Tom had several youngins he claimed as his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He took great joy in teaching them to hunt, fish, and the responsibilities of life. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He was a very particular and smart man and was always willing to share his knowledge with them. He loved going fast in his pickup truck and listening to the sound of it.

Mr. Goodman is survived by one daughter, Susan M. Thompson; and one son, Michael T. (Crystal) Goodman; 2 brothers, Edward (Cindy) Goodman and Carl (Shirley) Goodman; one sister, Janice Ray; 13 grandchildren, Christian (Alyssa) Thompson, Kody Goodman, Mable E. (Josh) Brown, Anthony Goodman, Dalton (Jessica Dunn) Goodman, Tiffany (Max) Parks, Tyler Winters, Brandon Smith, Adriane (Trent) Collins, Lane Boaz, Cadence Boaz, Sierra Scott, and Tyler Goodman; 15 great grandchildren, Isaiaha Thompson, Waylin Thompson, Hudson Thompson, Rayleigh Brown, June Brown, Lane Parks, Hunter Winters, Blakely Collins, Allie Shavez, Kynleigh Goodman, Huntley Ellenburg, Max Goodman, Brendalyn Winters, and Paisley Winters.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and eight siblings.

Friends and family may call at Winklepleck &Brock Funeral Home, Brownstown, IN on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 11:00 am until time of service at 2:00 pm. Per Tom’s wishes he will be arriving at his place of rest in his favorite ride his cherished pickup truck at the Smallwood Cemetery, Brownstown, IN.
