James V. Hamilton

BROWNSTOWN

James V. Hamilton, age 83, of Brownstown, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

Mr. Hamilton was of the Lutheran faith.

Jim was a die setter at Dura Auto in Brownstown for several years, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved playing cards and woodworking.

Born on November 27, 1938, in Vincennes, he was the son of Isaac and Gertrude Darkis Hamilton, both of whom preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons: Tony Lynn (Susan) Hamilton of Kentucky, and David Alan (Debbie) Hamilton of Brownstown; eight grandchildren: Chasity (David) Babbitt, Deann (John) Eubank, Tonya (Brian) Silence, Ashley Alcorn, Kalynn Hamilton and friend Kyle, Bryan (Terri) Nichols, Hillary (Dustin) Toppe, and Jamie Gray; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hamilton was also preceded in death by one son, James “Rick” Hamilton; five brothers: Bill Bozarth, Ralph Hamilton, John Hamilton, Isaac “Ike” Hamilton, and Jackie Hamilton; and two sisters: Cynthia Douglas and Mary Smith Rose.

Funeral services for James V. Hamilton will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Missy McAdams officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Houston Cemetery, Houston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Houston School.
