“Indian” Gene Ramon Stivers, 82, took his final ride on Monday, January 24, 2022.

Born in Seymour, Indiana, but moved to Southern California at a very young age where he was named Mr. Basketball at Long Beach High School. He would later go on to try out various occupations such as “rough necker” on water rigs, motorcycle mechanic and business owner settling on a 42 year career of custom painting and free hand pinstriping. His paint jobs included everything from cars, motorcycles (some used in movies), stagecoaches and several Apollo modules.

Gene had a quick wit and was king of the one-lines. He loved riding motorcycles, classic cars, fishing, western movies, watching Bob Ross and the Desert. He was passionate about college basketball and his favorite teams were UCLA and Butler. During football season he rooted for the Rams.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years Kathy Stivers, stepsons; Wayne (Bennett) Bott and Brad (Stephanie) Bott, his son; Jeff (Teresa) Stivers, his daughter; Lisa (Mike) Goodwin, grandchildren; Michael, Elizabeth, and Finn, his great grandchildren; Madison, Claire, Brooklyn, and Hayden, his brothers; Alvin Beckner, Terry Beckner, and his sister; Marla Thompson. He also had many nieces, nephews, and great nieces, nephews.

As per Gene’s request, there will be no visitation or services.
