Eva Dale Fleetwood, age 90, of Kurtz, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Fleetwood loved her church and was a member of Kurtz Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School for several years, sang in the choir, and served on the church board.

Eva ran the Fleetwood grocery store for 14 years. She loved spending time with her family, and she also enjoyed gardening and canning.

Born on January 30, 1931, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Milt and Pearl Sipes Nilson, both of whom preceded her in death. On November 12, 1947, in Bedford, she married Arnold Fleetwood and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2020.

Survivors include two sons: Roy (Joanna) Fleetwood of Kurtz, and Roger (Donna) Fleetwood of Brownstown; three daughters: Frieda (Kenny) Hillenburg of Kurtz, Beverly (William “Bill”) Goss of Sommerville, South Carolina, and Carolyn Canaday of Seymour; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Eva was also preceded in death by one daughter, June Roberts; one sister, Bessie Thrasher; and brother-in-law, Robert Thrasher.

Funeral services for Eva Dale Fleetwood will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Kurtz Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Floyd Fisher officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Kurtz Church of the Nazarene.

Interment will be at Kurtz Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Kurtz Church of the Nazarene.
