Crothersville gets first win

The Crothersville girls basketball earned its first win of the season on Saturday when the Tigers defeated Columbus Christian 83-52.

Kennadi Lakins led the way for Crothersville with an impressive 3o points. Zoe Spangler was right behind her with 26 points, Ella Plasse had 18, Tiessa Stevens 6, Morgan Womack 2 and Kendall Berry 1.

The win also marked the 114th career win for Kevin Hensley at Crothersville, which sets a new school record.

The Tigers (1-5) will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Switzerland County.

Boys basketball

Tigers fall to Orleans

The Crothersville boys basketball team suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday at Orleans, 97-37.

Damian Bowman was the lone double-digit scorer with 16 points. Zach Helt added 9, Beau Napier 6, Matt Clouse 4, Devin Morgan 2 and Dirk Crater 1.

The Tigers (0-2) will return to action on Friday night at Cannelton at 8 p.m.

Braves fall short at Scottsburg

Brownstown girls lost a Mid-Southern Conference game 60-53 at Scottsburg Friday night.

The Braves fell behind 9-1, rallied to tie the score, then scored only 6 points in the second period.

Maddy Hackman topped the Braves with 20 points, Kalee Borden scored 7, Emma Klinge 6, Mallory Klosterman 5, Jenna Klosterman 5, Hannah Stahl 3, Andrea Bair 3, Peyton Brock 2 and Addie Darlage 2.

The Braves, 0-2 MSC, 2-5 overall, will host Seymour Thursday night.
