Ivy Tech to collect food, clothing donations for students

Donations of food and clothing will be collected from noon to 4 p.m. today at the Columbus campus of Ivy Tech Community College, 4475 Central Ave.

Food collected during the second Spooky Food Drive will be given to the college’s Ivy Food for Thought Food Pantry, which provides meals, snacks and hygiene items for students, according to a news release from the school.

Those who would like to donate food can drive up to the collection site located at the campus parking lots to drop off items.

Ivy Tech is specifically asking for donations of ramen noodles, macaroni and cheese, popcorn, microwavable pasta, meals and soup, granola bars, fruit cups, peanut butter, crackers, chips, Pop Tarts, hand soap, lotion, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, hairstyling products, feminine hygiene items, shaving cream, deodorant, detergent, pens, paper and pencils.

The college also is accepting formal attire for interview clothes and other clothing donations.

Those who would like to donate but are unable to attend the food drive can drop items off at donation boxes on the Columbus campus. Clothes also can be dropped off at these boxes.
