Brownstown recognizes Students of the Month

BROWNSTOWN — A kindergartner, a seventh-grader and a senior have earned the title of Student of the Month.

During Tuesday’s Brownstown Central Community School Corp. board of school trustees meeting in the administration office, nomination letters for Grayson Lake, Allie Barlow and Nick Minton were read by their respective school principal as a picture of the student was shown on a screen.

Lake was nominated for Little Brave of the Month for sense of humor by his kindergarten teacher, Michelle Elliott.

“He’s a sweet little guy with a lot of energy,” Principal Chrystal Street said in reading Elliott’s comments. “One thing I love most about Grayson is he loves to dance. I love to watch him do GoNoodle. He makes me laugh. He just likes to have fun.”

Brownstown Elementary School kindergartner Grayson Lake has been named Little Brave of the Month for sense of humor.

Barlow was chosen by the seventh grade teachers for consistently modeling the school’s three R’s: Respect, responsibility and resourcefulness.

Brownstown Elementary School kindergartner Grayson Lake has been named Little Brave of the Month for sense of humor.

“She is respectful to her teachers and fellow classmates both inside and outside the classroom,” Principal Doug McClure said in sharing the teachers’ comments. “Allie’s teachers all agree that she is a pleasure to have in class because she is pleasant, kind and helpful to others. If a student needs help with an assignment, she is always willing to help out. If a teacher needs assistance with technology or running errands, Allie is always willing to assist.”

The teachers said Barlow also demonstrates responsibility and maturity each day at school.

“She excels in the classroom by always participating in class, completing assigned work on time, studying for tests and asking questions when necessary,” they wrote.

Barlow is a resourceful student who consistently finds a way to overcome any challenge she encounters, the teachers said.

Brownstown Central High School senior Nicholas Minton has been named Student of the Month for foreign language.

“When given a new project or assignment, she is always willing to do her best to go above and beyond what is asked of her,” they wrote. “As a member of the BCMS band, Allie offers her musical talents on the clarinet. Allie is an asset to her tribe by consistently earning Brave Bucks toward the tribe team total. With her friendly personality, giving nature and unique sense of humor, Allie has a bright future ahead of her.”

Minton was selected as the high school’s Student of the Month for foreign language by German teacher Angie Sibrel.

Brownstown Central High School senior Nicholas Minton has been named Student of the Month for foreign language.

“Nick is one of those special students who displays exemplary character, intelligence, determination, dependability and a positive attitude,” Principal Joe Sheffer said in reading Sibrel’s comments. “He is always in a good mood and is always fun to be around. In addition to all of that, Nick wants to learn. I’ve enjoyed having him in my class for four years, and BCHS is privileged to have him as a student.”
