Jerry Kessner, of Sparksville, passed away peacefully on the early morning of October 14, 2021 at Baptist Health Hospital of Louisville. He was 63.

Jerry Mark Kessner, Jr. entered this life on September 6, 1958, in Linton, Indiana. He was the second born of Jerry, Sr., and Beverly (Bailey) Kessner. He was the brother to John, Dawn, and Jay. Jerry grew up and spent most of his life around the Linton area. He moved to Jackson county around ten years ago to be closer to his son.

Jerry attended Linton -Stockton High School before leaving early to join the US Army. He served in the 101st Airborne Division and was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. After his service, Jerry went to work as a carpenter and joined the Indiana Carpenters Union 224 . The union allowed him to travel and see most of the state of Indiana. He retired from the union after 27 years.

He was a loving father, and Papaw. Jerry was an avid fisherman and loved riding his Harleys until his health would not allow it. He would also be found out working on a house somewhere when he wasn’t working.

Jerry will be missed by his family, mother Beverly Bailey of Terre Haute, sons, Mark Kessner of Sparksville and Ryan Howell of Sullivan, brothers, John Kessner of Jasonville, and Jay Kessner of Montana, and a sister Dawn Smith of Terre Haute, ten grandchildren, Destiny, Padre, Dalton, Addy, Brianna, Hunter, Jayvin, Aaralyn, Gavin and Easton, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and daughter Dawn Smith.

A Memorial Service will be held at Hague Funeral Home on Thursday October 28, 2021, at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at a later date.

Friends may visit at Hague Funeral Home on Thursday October 28, 2021, from 11:00 until time of the service.

Memorial expressions may be written in Jerry’s name to “Hope” Medora Goes Pink.
