Veterans of Foreign Wars and the VFW Auxiliary have announced information about a couple of contests for youth.
The 2021-22 Voice of Democracy audio-essay contest theme is “America: Where Do We Go From Here?” It’s open to any student in grades 9 to 12 enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States and its territories.
The 2021-22 Patriot’s Pen essay contest theme is “How Can I Be a Good American?” It’s open to any student in grades 6 to 8 enrolled in a public, private or parochial school or home study program in the United States and its territories.
For both contests, the student doesn’t have to be related to a VFW or VFW Auxiliary member to participate, but he or she must submit entries to a local VFW post.
For contest eligibility requirements, rules and national awards and to download an entry form, visit vfw.org/community/youth-and-education/youth-scholarships.
The entry deadline is Oct. 31. Mail entries to VFW Post 1925, Attn: Carl VonDielingen, Scholarship Chairman, 311 S. Jackson Park Drive, Seymour, IN 47274.
