Owls, Braves sectional draw revealed

The IHSAA released the football sectional draws on Sunday evening during a live stream on its website.

Brownstown Central drew Scottsburg in the first round, which will take place on Oct. 22, and the Braves will be hosting the game.

Rushfield Consolidated versus Batesville, Greensburg versus Charlestown, and Franklin County versus Lawrenceburg are the other games inside Sectional 31 of Class 3A.

Brownstown/Scottsburg will play the winner of Rushfield/Batesville in the second round.

The Braves are currently 8-0 on the season, fresh off a 28-27 victory over Silver Creek last Friday.

Ironically enough, Brownstown will be closing its regular-season this Friday when it goes to Scottsburg for a road game. Scottsburg is 6-2 on the season with losses to Silver Creek and Charlestown.

Brownstown will be looking to go undefeated heading into postseason action.

As for the Seymour football team, the Owls will be getting an extra week to prepare for their sectional game.

Seymour drew Bedford North Lawrence in the sectional, but that game will be taking place on Oct. 29.

Jeffersonville will play at Floyd Central on Oct. 22, and the winner of that game will play New Albany in the semifinals on Oct. 29, meaning Seymour versus BNL is the other semifinal game.

The Owls lost to the Stars earlier this season in a close game at home, 35-29. The sectional game will be at Bedford.

Seymour will close its regular-season this Friday with a game at Madison. The Cubs are currently 3-5 this season and most recently lost to BNL last Friday 41-6.

Both Brownstown’s and Seymour’s final road games this Friday will start at 7 p.m.
