Laverne Louise Lambring Hackman of Vallonia, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 20, 2021, at the Lutheran Community Home, at the age of 84. She was born on November 28, 1936, to the late Lawrence & Edith Peters Lambring. She graduated from Brownstown High School in 1955 and Indiana Business College in 1960.

On April 11, 1964, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Columbus, Laverne married Charles Louis Hackman and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2020. The two were blessed with 3 children and enjoyed traveling to all 48 continental states, playing cards, and spending time with their grandchildren.

Laverne served as the church secretary for St. Peters Lutheran Church in Columbus and Trinity Lutheran Church, Vallonia. She was an active member of the LWML and served as president on several occasions. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid group. Laverne enjoyed being a part of the Braille writer’s group at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who is survived by: her children Thomas (Ruth) Hackman, Patricia (Scott) Butt, and Miriam (John) Lee; her grandchildren Megan (Chad) VanLiew, Jacquelyn (Klayton) Jasinski, Katherine Butt (Kevin Labourdette), Samuel Butt, Adam (Allison) Lee, Allison Hackman, Benjamin Lee, Victor Hackman, Grant Lee, great-grandchildren Annie VanLiew & Louis Jasinski, and a sister Janet Spurgeon.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2021, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Wegan with Martin Keller officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Wegan, Lutheran Community Home, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Hackman Family is asking that all visitors please wear a mask during visitation and the service.
