Sharon Diane Dettmer, 74 of Columbus, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour. She was born March 12, 1947 in Seymour to Walter and Edith Powers Nentrup.
She attended Immanuel Lutheran School as a child and graduated from Seymour High School. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek where she served with the Guild and the Ladies Aid. She loved the bible and was known for her cooking. She was an avid gardener, quilter and loved all kinds of crafts.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Walter Nentrup, Jr. and sisters, Betty Von Strohe, Mary Ann Schneider and Ruth White.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Ken, her children, Clint Dettmer of Greenville, SC, Matt (Heather) Dettmer of Columbus, IN and Gretchen (Dean) Schneider of Wheeling, IL, her sister, Connie (Tom) Burrell, her brother, George (Joyce) Nentrup, her grandchildren, Kiana Snyder, Ashley Dettmer and Lindsey Dettmer.
Friends may gather with Sharon’s family from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 20, 2021 at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut St., Seymour, IN 47274 and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, August 21, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek with Pastor Justin Whitmore officiating. She will be laid to rest at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek Cemetery.
