SEYMOUR

Mr. Richard R. “Dick” Stickles, 82, of Seymour, passed away on July 13, 2021. He was born in 1938 to the late Ross M. and Mildred E. (Trueblood) Stickles in Odon, Indiana.

On September 6, 1959, he married the love of his life, Nancy E. Smith and she preceded him in death on October 23, 1984. He then married Nancy (Sinclair) Smiley, who preceded him in death on July 14, 2015.

Dick graduated from Odon High School and went on to receive a BA and MA in Education from Indiana State University. He then moved to Seymour and had a long career as a mathematics teacher and coach at Seymour High School. He loved catching up with former students, watching the Cubs, traveling, fishing, and spending time on the family farm in Odon. Above all else, he loved his family.

He is survived by his children; Richard W. “Rick” (Robyn) Stickles, and Douglas S. (Julia) Stickles; step-children, Jonita Adcock, Doug (Dee) Smiley, and Denise Smiley; grandchildren, Eric Stickles, David Stickles, Ledger (Amber) Stickles, Braden Stickles, Brendan Stickles, and Brooke Pranger; great-grandchild, Aayla Stickles; a sister, Nancy Hall and a niece, Cheryl McClure.

Dick is preceded in death by his two wives, and his parents.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Voss & Sons Funeral Service from 2-6pm and on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Voss & Sons Funeral Service from 10-11am.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Voss & Sons Funeral Service at 11am.

Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Memorials may be written to First United Methodist Church in Seymour or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
