Brownstown man arrested for child solicitation

A Brownstown man was arrested Tuesday for child solicitation after sending sexually explicit messages to an 11-year-old, police report.

Calvin Lee Ritz, 27, faces a charge of child solicitation, a Level 5 felony.

On June 26, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department received information about the messages being sent by Ritz.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Detective J.L. McElfresh was assigned to investigate the allegations.

Over the course of the investigation, forensic phone examinations, victim interviews and suspect interviews were conducted. McElfresh was assisted by other Jackson County detectives and Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center in Bloomington.

Ritz was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 12:06 p.m. Tuesday.

In Indiana, a Level 5 felony means one to six years in prison with an advisory sentence of one year if convicted.
