JCB’s Brownstown Banking Center at 108 W. Commerce St. will remain closed until further notice after experiencing a fire Sunday evening.

The cause of the fire, reported to JCB at 6:25 p.m., remains under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, according to a news release from the Seymour-based bank.

Customers can be assured that none of their banking arrangements, including loans and deposits, were impacted by the fire and that all contents within the banking center are safe and secure, according to that statement.

“On behalf of JCB, I would like to share my deep appreciation to the Brownstown Fire Department and surrounding volunteer departments for their quick response to contain the fire and minimize the damage,” said Marvin Veatch, president and chief executive officer of JCB.

“We would also like to thank the Brownstown Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance throughout the evening,” he said. “We are fortunate the fire occurred during nonbanking hours. Our team has worked diligently to secure the facility and its contents.””

Customers may access their accounts online at jcbank.com, visit one of the nine other locations or call 800-204-6477 for any banking needs.

Brownstown firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Carr, Driftwood and Hamilton townships.
