Seymour native Teri Moren, the current head coach of Indiana University women’s basketball, was named a court coach for the upcoming USA Basketball Women’s U19 World Cup Team Trials.

Moren received the recognition on Wednesday, and it will be the first time she is participating with USA Basketball. The selections were made by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee.

Moren will serve as a court coach along with Memphis head coach Katrina Merriweather. She and Merriweather will help with on-court drills and scrimmages during the trials. The head coach will be Cori Close from UCLA, and the assistants are Aaron Johnston (South Dakota State) and Joni Taylor (Georgia).

Moren will partake in this in the summer following the most successful season in Indiana women’s basketball history, where Moren led the Hoosiers to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve as a court coach for USA Basketball’s U19 tryouts,” Moren said in a news release. “It is with great pride and gratitude to experience this process alongside fantastic coaches and while working with some of the best young athletes in our game today.”

The trials will take place Friday through Sunday at Metro State University in Denver, Colorado.

The 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup is scheduled for Aug. 7 through 15 in Debrecen, Hungary. It will feature 16 teams: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Mali, Russia, South Korea, Spain and USA.
