Seymour student featured in video, organizes esports event

Every year, the Manchester University president gives each new student an acorn.

On graduation day, Manchester alumni give them an oak sapling to plant.

The tradition of Acorns to Oaks is the theme of the 2021 Giving Day celebration April 21, and Trevor Johnson of Seymour is featured in a video asking students and others in the university community what those symbols mean to them. Watch the video online at youtube.com/watch?v=t3a8Mgl0ZFQ.

Johnson is a junior majoring in sport management and digital media at the university in North Manchester.

Johnson also organized a Great Lakes Esports Conference championship match April 9 at Manchester. He handled the tasks of streaming, room reservation and tech setup.

The Manchester University Esports Smash team won the championship with a 3-2 win over Trine University. MUES Smash finished off an undefeated season to secure its first conference championship in program history.
