Crothersville’s Boy Scouts of America Troop 522 will retire American flags in a solemn ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday near the baseball fields at Countryside Park.
The flag retirement will follow a Scout color guard’s procession starting at 1 p.m. from the Crothersville-Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Department, the troop’s new local charter organization. It will go past the police station, school and town hall and out to Countryside Park, 5725 S. County Road 1000E, Crothersville.
The troop invites the public to view the procession and/or attend the flag retirement.
Due to Boy Scouts of America’s safety guidelines, the troop will have to cancel the event if Jackson County’s COVID-19 positivity rate rises above 10%.
