Legal Aid planning free housing, eviction clinic

0

Legal Aid is holding a housing and eviction clinic for residents of its eight-county district March 2.

The COVID-19 housing crisis has sharply increased the risk of evictions and has created an extraordinary need for renters to know their rights and responsibilities/resources.

Legal Aid’s volunteer attorneys will provide information related to housing and eviction issues. Those calling the clinic can expect to receive a brief consultation to answer housing and eviction questions.

The phone clinic will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Individuals seeking legal consultation must preregister by calling Legal Aid at 812-378-0358 between noon and 2 p.m. March 2 and must be available between 3 and 5:30 p.m. that day to answer a call from an attorney.

Legal Aid’s Pro Bono District I includes Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Rush and Shelby counties.
