The coronavirus has struck local sports again.

The Brownstown Central boys basketball team’s remaining regular-season schedule has been reshuffled because of COVID-19 issues.

After a Feb. 2 game against Paoli was postponed, a previously scheduled home game against Columbus East tonight has been canceled. In addition, the scheduled Feb. 12 game at Bedford North Lawrence has been canceled.

Coach Dave Benter said the Braves are in a 10-day quarantine.

Several local sports teams have faced similar issues since the fall at all Jackson County schools, from Brownstown football to Seymour volleyball to Crothersville basketball and more.

Brownstown is expected to resume basketball play Feb. 16 at home against Floyd Central.

The remainder of the regular season, leading up to March sectional play, is now set this way: Feb. 19, Eastern (Pekin) at home; Feb. 20, Providence on the road; Feb. 23, Clarksville at home; Feb. 26 Orleans at home; and Feb. 27, Charlestown at home.

Brownstown is currently 9-5 on the season.

All varsity games are accompanied by JV contests scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. with the varsity games expected to follow at about 7:30 p.m.
