Johnny “Big John” Leroy Taylor, 68, formerly of Hayden, Indiana, passed away on January 22, 2021 at his home in Columbus, Indiana. He was a member of the Air Force for eight years and was a member of Hayden Baptist Church. He graduated in 1970 from Jennings County High School. In 1972, Johnny earned his Associates Degree from ITT Tech. Johnny was also a member of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club.

Johnny was born in 1952 to the late John Everett Taylor and Carol Joy (Hall) Taylor in Seymour.

On November 18, 1987, Johnny married the love of his life Patricia Ann Riley in Hazard, Kentucky.

Johnny is survived by his children Sonia (Geoff) Kirk, Jerry Taylor, Kenny Smith, Mary Guffey, Jennifer (Wayne) Ash, and Nathaniel Taylor; sister Carolyn (Dave) Winship. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Michele Miller, brother Everett, and one grandchild.

Johnny loved riding motorcycles and going camping.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Graveside services will follow and be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Hayden Cemetery at 2 p.m. with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

The family appreciates all the prayers and concern for them in this time of loss. Johnny will be missed by many friends in the community. Cards and notes of condolence will be most welcome.
