Nancy Toppe, 61, of Crothersville, IN, passed away at 7:03 PM on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at her home with her family at her side. Nancy was born on Sunday, December 21, 1958, in Seymour, IN. She was the daughter of Otis and Mildred (Hoevener) Wehrkamp. Nancy was a 1976 Brownstown High School graduate. After graduating she started working at the former U.S. Shoe Corp. in Crothersville. Later, she was employed for 17 years at Walmart Distribution Center, then worked for 14 years as a bank teller at Peoples Bank in Crothersville, and currently worked for the past 3 years as the head cook at St. John’s Sauers Lutheran Church. Working at the school was a Godsend to Nancy. She loved working at the school and all the kids loved and adored Ms. Nancy. She loved and adored all the children and knew all of them by name. On November 27, 1976, she married Dan Toppe who survives in Crothersville, IN. They would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary this November. Nancy was a member of St. John’s Sauers Lutheran Church. Spoiling her grandkids and attending all of their sporting events were the highlight of her life. She was a Louisville Cardinals fan, a polar pop enthusiast, enjoyed mowing grass at home and her church, traveling on their motorcycle or jeep for a short getaway or a long road trip, and loved her weekly shopping trips and excursions with her sister, Marsha. Other survivors include 2 children, Amber (Jason) Naylor of Crothersville, IN, Dustin (Hillary) Toppe of Brownstown, IN, 7 grandchildren, Mollie Moore, Cody Waskom, Carter Waskom, Marissa Naylor, Harley Toppe, Hunter Toppe, and Halle Toppe, 1 brother, Mike (Mary) Wehrkamp of Crothersville, IN, and 1 brother-in-law, Glen Reynolds of Crothersville, IN. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marsha Lee Reynolds on January 5, 2019. Rev. Craig Muhlbach will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 30, 2020, at St. John’s Sauers Lutheran Church, 1108 S. Co. Rd 460 E, Seymour, IN with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery. Friends may visit on Thursday, October 29, 2020, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Friday at the church.
