Mrs. Anna Jean Smith Sharer, 91, of Seymour, entered eternal life on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Anna was born in Seymour on February 24, 1929, the daughter of the late Rev. Elmore A. Smith, Sr. and Addie May (Shutters) Smith.

She graduated from Shields High School in 1947.

Anna was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was an adventurous spirit, taking flying lessons in the late nineteen forties. She expressed her creativity through her sewing, arts and crafts, and gardening. Her love of nature and flowers inspired her to be a master gardener. Anna was a woman of strong faith turning to God for guidance and strength throughout many life struggles. She was a good listener, had a huge heart, a wonderful smile, and a great sense of humor.

She is survived by her brother Clarence Smith, her children Steve Sharer and Chris Sharer, Lori Sharer, and Mark Sharer, grandchildren Bret Hobson, Kristopher (Stacey) Williams, Alissa (Josh) Proctor, and David Lakins, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Elmore A. Smith, Jr., and Robert D. Smith, and daughter-in-law Leslie M. Sharer.

Family and friends may gather at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Monday after 10 a.m. until time of service. (Masks must be worn at both Voss & Sons Funeral Service and Immanuel Lutheran Church.)

Funeral service will be Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez and Vicar Will Fredstrom officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

Friends may make donations to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Community Home or the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
