Health department offering drive-thru flu shot clinic

It’s time to think about seasonal flu and getting your 2020-21 flu shot.

The Jackson County Health Department is helping people "shoo the flu" by conducting a drive-thru flu shot clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the health department, 801 W. Second St., Seymour.

Just about anyone that can get the flu can get the shot. Cash is not necessary, as insurance can be billed.

The first clinic of the season was Sept. 22. Lin Montgomery, public health coordinator/educator for the health department, said they administered nearly 75 vaccinations that day.

"Which means those individuals did not have to make an appointment, show up on time, sit in a waiting room with other folks and expose themselves, others and our essential staff to whatever germ is lurking out there," she said.

A second clinic is being offered in case people missed the first one or had second thoughts, Montgomery said.
