I-65 ribbon cutting planned

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the $143 million project to add travel lanes on Interstate 65 in Jackson and Bartholomew counties will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the northbound weigh station north of Seymour.

Construction began in the spring of 2018 and is now substantially complete, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The project expanded the interstate to three lanes in each direction between U.S. 50 and State Road 58 and also included rehabilitation of multiple bridges. Reconstruction work will continue at the State Road 11 interchange (Exit 55) under the same contract and is expected to reopen to traffic in late November, weather permitting.
