The family of Larry Schultheis is deeply saddened to announce his passing on September 2, 2020 at Schneck Medical Center at the age of 72 years. He was born on January 8, 1948 to parents Francis and Irene M. Sandhage Schultheis, both who precede him in death.

On September 30, 1967, he married the love of his life, Jacque Dye Schultheis at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

Larry was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He was a tireless worker, retiring from Cummins Engine Company after 31 years. He drove City Bus 123 for 4 years and for Poynter’s Automotive group for 20 years. He was also an IHSAA official from 1971 – 1976. Larry was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, serving as Treasurer, and a charter member of the Elks Club.

Larry was an avid bowler, bowling several times a week and scoring several 300-point games. He served as a 9th District representative of American Bowling Congress/United States Bowling Congress. He started bowling at the age of 14 and was a pin setter at BJ Lanes. Larry also loved fishing with his brother Leroy and his Uncle Pete and was a member and officer of the Bass Master Association. He enjoyed a good round of golf and was an avid Notre Dame fan.

Larry’s children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed attending and never missed one of their sporting events.

Larry will be fondly remembered by his wife, Jacque; his children, Jody Ann Kaufman and John Schultheis; two grandchildren, Blake Schultheis and Sarah Kaufman; two great grandchildren, Turner and Parker Schultheis; his sister, Wilma (Steve) Wieneke; his sister-in-law, Jane Schultheis; brother-in-law, Pastor James (Lynn) Dye; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leroy Schultheis; his sister, Norma Schultheis; and his bother-in-law, William (Aurora) Dye.

Visitation will be at held at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Dan Staublin officiating. All arrangements have been entrusted to Voss & Sons Funeral Service, Crematory and Monuments. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, face masks are required at all services.
