The family of Daniel Howard Boone, Seymour, is saddened to announce his passing on August 27, 2020 at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis at the age of 66 years. Daniel was born in Louisville, Kentucky on April 1, 1954. He was the son of the late Johnny and Sue Boone and Dorothy (Rhodes) Hicks. On April 1, 2017, he married June (Doerge) Boone.

Daniel graduated from Jennings County High School in 1973. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War. Daniel owned Dan’s Drywall Hanging and was a well-known and respected member of the community. He was a member of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the Moose Lodge, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he previously served as Commander. Daniel was a hard worker and loved his family dearly. They will miss hearing him say “kinda sorta” which they knew was his way of saying “I love you”.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, June; his three daughters; Brandy Stearns, Sherry (Mike) Banks, and Ashley (Joshua) Stith; his two step-children: Jason (Kelly) Arthur and Kristi Arthur, and his nine grandchildren: Isaac, Marley, and Halle Stearns; Ellie Banks; Kensley, Josie, Gabriel, Wrenlee, and Bowen Stith. He is also survived by his siblings: Pamela (William) Higdon, Virginia Diane Hicks, and Marion Stacy (Renada) Boone.

Family and friends will gather to honor Daniel at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Funeral services will be held at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery where Daniel will be afforded full military rights provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, and Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. Face masks are respectfully required at all services.

Memorials may be written to Voss & Sons Funeral Service to offset funeral expenses.
