BROWNSTOWN, INDIANA

Betty Jane Stamper, 84, formerly of Seymour passed from this life Monday, March 23, 2020 at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown, Indiana. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour.

Betty loved taking care of people, raising her children and doting on her grandchildren. She had an eye for beauty and enjoyed decorating and re-decorating her home, sewing, and gardening. She had an ear for music and loved playing the guitar and organ, singing, and dancing.

She and Paul liked to spend time with friends, square dancing, camping and traveling. Betty adored being surrounded by family and friends and was always the life of the party. At one time she and Paul owned the Dudleytown Country Store which Betty operated. This allowed her to be part of a loving community and use her talents to plan and cater many weddings. She later worked at Dicksons and Sylvania.

Betty was born August 21, 1935 in Chavies, Kentucky, the daughter of William H. and Lula M. (Bowling) Begley. The family moved to Austin, Indiana in 1944 where Betty attended the first Baptist Church of Austin and Austin schools where she enjoyed being a cheerleader.

She married Paul V. Stamper her devoted husband and partner in life on May 22, 1955 and he preceded her in death in 2012.

Survivors include daughter Connie (John) Sparks of Brownstown, and sons Paul A. (Tony) Stamper of Westerville, OH and Stephen Todd Stamper of Seymour; grandchildren, Kelly (Chad) Robertson, Andrew (Christina) Stamper, Adam (Amy) Sparks, Toni Stamper, Jana Allman, Cory Jane Stamper, and Jacob Stamper; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Lou Alice Wilkerson of Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers William H Begley Jr., Woolery Begley, and Patrick Begley; sisters Agnes Begley, Anne Foster, Ada Ruth Begley, Helen Niemeyer, and Verna Greene.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 605 S. Walnut St., Seymour with Pastor James Rodriguez, Jr. officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, face masks will be required, and social distancing will be practiced. Inurnment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, Indiana.
