HANOVER

Jeffrey, L. Hanover, 54, of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on July 24, 1965 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of Elbert and Joyce Breeden Riley. He was a 1984 graduate of Lighthouse Tabernacle Christian School in Crothersville, Indiana.

He was inducted into the United States Army on April 10, 1984 in Scottsburg, Indiana. He rose to the rate of Private First Class and served in Company D, 9th Battalion and Company B, 151st Infantry. Jeff was honorably discharged on May 9, 1992 as a Specialist 4 and received the Army Service Ribbon.

He married Rebecca “Beckey” Abbott on August 29, 1986 in Sevierville, Tennessee. This happy union of nearly twenty-nine years was blessed with a son, David. He was raised in Scottsburg and had been in Hanover since the age of twenty-one and he also resided in Seymour from 2001 to 2008.

He worked at the U.S. Shoe Corporation in both the Madison and Crothersville plants for a total of eight years. He also worked at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Seymour for twelve years before becoming disabled. He was a member of the Landmark Apostolic Bible Church and the American Legion Riders.

He enjoyed his church, motorcycle and 4-wheeler riding, NASCAR, dirt track racing and fishing. Jeffrey died on Monday, May 25, 2020, at 10:53 p.m. at his home in Hanover, Indiana.

Jeffrey will be missed by his loving son, David Riley and his husband, T.J. of Hanover, Indiana; his mother, Joyce Breeden Riley of Seymour, Indiana; his mother-in-law, Mickey Abbott of Hanover, Indiana; his brothers, Ellis Riley and his companion Tammy Robinson of Scottsburg, Indiana, Henry “Hank” Riley and his companion, Samantha of Seymour, Indiana; his sister in law, Jean Davis of Louisville, Kentucky; his brother in law, Norman O. Abbott, Jr. and his wife, Peggy of Radcliff, Kentucky; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 29 years, Rebecca “Beckey” Abbott Riley, died August 13, 2015, his father, Elbert Ellis Riley, died December 4, 2018, his father in law, Norman O. Abbott, Sr., died in 2000.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 11:00 am, by Pastor Darren Burton at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre – Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street in Hanover, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens,9306 North US 421 Madison, Indiana. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre – Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street Hanover, Indiana.

A final salute will be conducted on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre-Hanover Chapel with full military honors to follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
