Relay for Life of Columbus moved to Sept. 12

Relay for Life of Columbus conducted a virtual team captain meeting May 12.

The event had 13 teams with 85 participants who had already raised more than $28,000 for the American Cancer Society.

The event, “Peace, Love, Relay,” is now set for Sept. 12 at Central Middle School in Columbus. Registration is available at

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no T-shirts for participants, but they are encouraged to wear team shirts or vintage relay shirts to the event. A disc jockey also is needed.

June 7 is National Cancer Survivor Day. Participants are encouraged to raise money in their honor virtually through the event webpage or through Facebook starting June 1 and to contact survivors during the pandemic. Virtual fundraisers cannot be a raffle or bingo.

  • The Rumble for the Cure motorcycle ride was moved from May to Sept. 19 starting at Mann’s Harley-Davidson

Teams also are selling luminaria for $10 in memory of loved ones or in honor of cancer survivors.
