Forest Service hiring temporary fire positions throughout Midwest

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service Eastern Region is looking for a committed, hardworking and highly skilled workforce to support wildfire suppression efforts and fuels management on 14 national forests and one tallgrass prairie located in states across the region, including Indiana.

The Eastern Region Fire and Aviation Management Program provides an opportunity to work in a team with colleagues who perform in a variety of specialized positions. This announcement includes outreach for fire and fuels technicians, dispatchers and helitack positions.

This outreach is for temporary seasonal fire, fuels and dispatch positions. The Hoosier National Forest is seeking to fill a seasonal dispatcher position to be located in Tell City. The vacancy announcements for these positions are posted on USAJobs, the official website for federal employment opportunities. Applicants must respond to the vacancy announcements by 11:59 p.m. May 26.

All applications received on or before May 26 and deemed qualified will be referred for consideration. Applicants are encouraged to apply to any position and duty station that interests them, as those positions may become vacant through the temporary fire hire process.
