Alvin Sawyer Sr., 75, of Crothersville, IN, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at 7:20 PM with his family by his side. Alvin was born on Saturday, February 10, 1945, in Seymour, IN. He was the son of Killis Sawyer and Lillie Mae (Boiling) Sawyer.
Alvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding Harleys, collecting koozies, and hats. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, family, and his companion, Nalona Bush, who he called, “his flower”. Alvin worked as a mechanic in Newtown, OH, the American Can, as a truck driver for RWI of Cincinnati, OH, and retired from Morgan Foods.
Survivors include his three children, Alvin Sawyer Jr. of Crothersville, IN, Cynthia Pam (Steve) Shirley of Nashville, IN, and Joseph Matthew Sawyer Sr. of Crothersville, IN, 5 grandchildren, Kasey Couch of Indianapolis, IN, Katelin Couch of Columbus, IN, Joseph M. Sawyer Jr. of Brownstown, IN, Kassondra Sawyer of Edwardsburg, MI, and Kayla (Chandler) Christopher of Dudleytown, IN, 1 great-grandchild, Dawson Ryan Christopher, 5 siblings, Raymond Sawyer, Tom Sawyer, Ronnie Sawyer, ImaJean Hopkins, and Ruby Gay, and his beloved flower, NaLona “Nonnie” Bush.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Sawyer, Killis Sawyer, Jim Sawyer, and Bobbie Sawyer, his sisters, Linda Hurt, and Carolyn Sawyer, the children’s mother, Carol Blagg Thomas (8-29-2014).
Cremation Services have been entrusted to Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date and burial of cremains will be in Cana Cemetery. Online condolences can be given to the family at www.AdamsFuneralHomeOnline.com
