Schneck Medical Center announced Tuesday that the annual Dr. Bud Charity Golf Tournament, historically held in June, has been postponed.
“As we continue to evaluate the effects of the COVID-19 crisis, it is with great disappointment that we have decided to postpone the 2020 Dr. Bud Charity Golf Tournament until later this year,” said Warren Forgey, president and chief executive officer of Schneck Medical Center.
“Given that mass gatherings and group events in June might still be prohibited and unwise, it is in the best interest of the communities we serve to postpone the tournament. We will continue to evaluate the possibility of hosting the event later this year.”
Proceeds from the tournament provide scholarships for registered nursing students in Jackson, Jennings, Scott and Washington counties.
“We will continue to support our nursing students with the scholarship program despite the COVID-19 pandemic,” Forgey said. “Because of the success of prior Dr. Bud Charity Golf Tournaments, we have more than sufficient funds for this year’s scholarships.”
For information on the scholarship and to apply, visit schneckmed.org/scholarships. Applications must be completed in their entirety and returned to Schneck Medical Center on or before May 22 to be eligible for consideration.
