FRANKLIN
O. Frances Newton, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at the Indiana Masonic Home on April 17, 2020. She was 97.
Frances entered this life on August 5, 1922 in Franklin, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of Onie S. and Geneva K (Newman) Duffer.
On July 19, 1940, Frances was united in marriage to Claude Newton. From this union they were blessed with a daughter, Nancy. Claude preceded Frances on March 30, 1999.
She was a member of Charity Baptist Church of Clermont, Indiana where she was also baptized.
Frances retired from Eli Lilly of Indianapolis after 26 years. She was known as the “Euchre Queen” of Eli Lilly. She worked in the penicillin department and then the export shipping department.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and granny to her loving family. She loved planting and playing with her flowers in the spring.
Frances will be missed by her daughter, Nancy Huff of Crawfordsville, a brother Harold Duffer and his wife Vicki of Greenwood, two granddaughters, Jennifer Allman and her husband Steve of Seymour, and Caitlin Huff of Montpelier, Vermont, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Eugene Duffer, and a son-in-law Michael Huff.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Forest Lawn Cemetery of Greenwood, Indiana on Wednesday April 22, 2020.
Services have been entrusted to Zabel Funeral Home of Brownstown.
